CoSMeyeSee: 03/11/07: One Eyed Jack @ Alex Grey’s Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
So a year from my 3rd live painting, I land on 03/11 again, this time in 2007. Strange synchronicities to be sure. Again, another triangular shape bubbled up, but the space itself definitely seemed to have an effect on the work. The large sculptures of Alex Grey’s in the walkways with the hexagram designs, pulling my mind lucidly back to my own experience last year of painting the Coalescing of the Star of David to U-Melt. As though I had seen it then and was now seeing it again. Back and forth. So surreal. Sometimes I get the feeling that, in some ways, we’re writing the story as we go along…
Thanks to all of One Eyed Jack who were simply amazingly accommodating, appreciative and above all superior musicians. The room was definitely filled with smiling faces and a myriad of colorful dancing all nighters. The 12-4 a.m. was pretty stellar actually. It was nice to be a part of the incessant pulse of the city, albeit just for one night. Oh yeah, check out the Tool-like eye in the painting. That was definitely unplanned and just fell out of me. Most likely because I used to listen to Aenima like it was going out of style and fell in love with Grey’s design even back then. My influences, it seems, have all pointed me to the belief that I am merely a conduit for the all…
