There’s just something about worms. Awhile ago, I wrote a song called Earthworm and, after ruminating on Strangecreek for a little while, I’d like to share it with you before I post the paintings that came through last weekend in Greenfield, MA. Here ’tis.

Earthworm: Lyrics by Jon Blake, played by In Tents

Eating dead to get ahead/You know I’ve finally found my Way

Roses left behind my breath/You know I’ve finally found my Way

We churn the dirt, we churn the dirt/And transform all the pain and hurt

The lowest of the low it seems/Can wriggle blindly through the Dream

chorus

cause i’m an earthworm baby, what else to do?

i’m an earthworm baby and i know that you’re one, too;

we’re all earthworm’s honey and we keep earth warm and sunny

we’re all earthworm’s children and we chew to keep on building…

Eyeless, sightless, sighted seen/The One for All is being mean

I chew I chew this living train/And bring the dead to life again…

chorus

cause i’m an earthworm baby, what else to do?

i’m an earthworm baby and i know that you’re one, too;

we’re all earthworm’s honey and we keep earth warm and sunny

we’re all earthworm’s children and we chew to keep on building…

With that in mind, the earthworm fertilizes the ground as it passes through its body. The insides of the worm give the soil vital nutrients. It leaves a wake of living as it moves through this life. And that’s what Wormtown’s about and what I think all humans should strive for. Here’s a copy of the newsletter I just sent out to everyone, along with some photos of the pics. If you want to receive CRB information, contact me at crazyredbeard@crazyredbeard.com and I’ll put you on the list. I send out the Good Gnus, letting people know where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to and where I might be going next.

Blue so blue...I loverica

Aliens, Aztecs and Jesus are pretty cool. That’s right. I said it. Aliens, the Aztecs and Jesus. They all kick ass. How do I know? Because the little voices in my head tell me it’s true and who am I to judge. Crazyfreakingredbeard. That’s who. I judge in favor. Of all bazillion flavors of the world, swirling into one big bolus of CreationLove.
So…what have I been up to, you might be wondering. Well…I’ll tell you. I’ve been living, loving, struggling and surviving and throwing paint at things. I’ve also learned that the Grey race is all good, the Lizard race is trying to eat your face off (and suck your soul marrow, taboot) and that painting eight paintings in two days to seven bands REALLY HURTS YOUR BACK. I need a massage.
Where did we leave off?? Particle? Tabernacle?? Buzz Universe in Washington Square Park? I dunno, but listen here. Here’s a video of me painting to the Juggling Suns at Strangecreek 2007 on Sunday 05/27/07 in Greenfield, MA. This was right after I had blown as hard as I could on the canvas, which resulted in red paint exploding on my face. Thank God for glasses. Now they’re just rose tinted. Life is a funny meatball. Thanks for the video Jess!
Check out Chris Paul’s review of the Juggling set as well as his own amazing photography.

So yeah…7 bands, 8 paintings, ONE LOVE. Strangecreek 2007 was a testament of physical, emotional and spiritual reachings. I learned a few things about what I’m capable of and what I’m not and will probably be focusing a bit more locally until expenses are recouped from all of these ventures. So come check out the gallery in Charlottesville, VA! Call for an appointment! And HUGE thanks to Mark and Gabby from Wormtown. THat was a beautiful festival and I feel honored to have been able to channel with those musicians. SPREAD THE WORM!!!

I painted for the following bands over the weekend….
Rev Tor Band
Depth Quartet
Unexplained Bacon
MAX CREEK
Juggling Suns
Ryan Montbleau Band
the Breadbox Band

I dunno….maybe I should’ve done more?? I’m such a slacker.
Anyway, let me know if you guys want prints of any of the works from the weekend. If I get enough interest, I can afford to get the image captures and what not. The paintings are all also for sale so talk to me if you want one in particular. I have a price range in mind for each one and will be happy to work out something if you see something you like. The Max Creek painting is signed by the band and the Ryan Montbleau painting is signed by Ryan and Taraleigh Silverberg, the progenitor of the healthy hippie tip of the day!!
Contact me for sizes and any other specifics of the paintings as well. Much love and namaste, all!!!
