Fiasco 3 tomorrow!!: New merch, gallery opening in PA next month, Orhcard Lounge painting from 09/18/08 @ Dust, Charlottesville, VA

09/19/08

Dearest art fiends (and that’s what you are. Don’t deny it.),
Well, the artakeover of Charlottesville has begun in earnest. After last weekend’s Basshound excursion at Zinc, a last minute and very smart addition set the end of the weekend off in style.
Weapons of Mass Production is a company I’m definitely looking forward to working with in the future. They came, they transformed a warehouse next to more than a billion potato chips and they rocked your face.
I sit here, contemplating the hours that transpired between 10 pm on Thursday and 3:30 am early Friday morning. I sit here, delirious with fatigue, forgetting how to spell, because I made it home by 5 am and got up around 9 to run errands. Because we’re going to Behtlehem, PA to paint Fiasco! 3 tomorrow. I’m not playing around either. You can check this junks out if you don’t be believin’ me.

It was…great. Simply put…great. I’m not going to wax too intellectual about it, because I can barely keep my eyes open, but it was truly one of the better shows I’ve been to in Charlottesville for a long time. Located next to the Utz factory (yes, Utz…hence the chip reference), Dust is a warehouse room that’s perfect for small freak outs. It fits about 200 and the place was definitely packed for most of the evening. There were also 398 other separate parties happening in the parking lot and there was a dentist’s convention or something.

4D Rock opened (thanks Axie!) with some interesting sonic adventures, followed by a sci-fi rampage of smoothness by Damn Right! that got the crowd ready for the main event. Big thanks to Blake (his name is my name too!) of Basshound for all of the kind words and key work…check out either of his bands on myspace. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

Orchard Lounge rounded out the evening, bringing an amazing well melded blend of hip-hop, tech, electro and other excursions into strange realms of bass. Having not had the chance to dance on canvas to many DJs, this was a really special treat. I hope they enjoyed the evening as much as I did. Please take a listen to their music on their website (lots of free downloads) and tell ‘em Crazyredbeard sent ya!

The Eternal Battle of Turtle and Kraken in the Orchard: Painted live to 4d Rock, Damn Right! and Orchard Lounge on 09/18/08 @ Dust, Charlottesville, VA

We put up the mural that we made at Phanphest (Happy Buddha Is You) behind the bands and DJs and, along with liquid lights and a pretty stellar projection and light system, the evening was eye opening for a lot of people. Props as always to Mikey Bullock for getting shit done all over town.

Be on the lookout for October 3rd, as well. Dr. Fameus (Allen Aucoin of the Disco Biscuits) and KJ Sawka descend on the same site.

We’re planning a larger scale art bomb this time around. Can’t wait to see you there.

So. if you’re anywhere near the Bethlehem, PA area tomorrow, come out to Starter’s Riverport and take part in Fiasco 3!. Communal chalkboard, hoopers, fire twirlers…a circus inside of a bar. Funtown encourages you to embrace your inner kaleidoscope of mirth.

Also, potential Seed Gallery collaboration is in the works and I’ll be exhibiting at a gallery known as The Many Worlds Gallery in PA next month. AND: NEXT WEEKEND is the boat cruise with Buzz Universe (get your tickets!) in NYC.

Peace be unto thee, my friends and thank you for continuing to watch, share and be good family. Much love to one and all and keep keeping the scene alive. I can’t do what I do without you and we can only get better from here.

PEACE

CRB
