Novembrrrrr….BBB @ Mexicali and a few retrospects….
Welcome again. Some time has passed and I’m glad to be sitting behind the keyboard again. Between working with kids that sometimes hate me and traveling like a mad person, sitting still can be a commodity. The FIASCO @ Allentown Brewworks was a raging success. Lots of people at the duplex bar. The hoopers inside were definitely recognized by the metropolitan crowd before everyone was radioed to come upsrtairs for the fire twirlers. The parking lot became quickly packed for Lucky and some other partners that twirled amazingly. Arcs of flame in dragon hot-slip light. Sinuous sexy and easily erotic.
Back inside, the DJ spun underground hip-hop whil I painted with Deipher and some crowd members. At one point, we were having a loose time of it and just enjoying the cacophony around us. I remember taking black matte pieces and setting them down on the canvas where there was a particularly large amount of paint, then doing yoga poses on the mattes. The results were interesting to be sure.
The next night was equally amazing, with Unexplained Bacon, members of BBB (Dark Side of the Box for the evening)and One Eyed Jackj. I ended up painting a One Eyed Jack in the Box, with birthday wishes to both Jordan and Kate, written in the box.
And now? Nextg weekend. November 17th, with the Breadbox Band, at Mexicali Blues, Teaneck, NJ. Another 6.5 hour drive from Virginia to the state of turnpikes, ehhhhh! and all else Joiseyriffic.
